The LDM formula
LDM = length (m) × width (m) ÷ 2.4 × quantity ÷ stacked
| Pallet | Size | LDM per pallet | Pallets per 13.6 m trailer |
|---|---|---|---|
| EUR pallet | 120 × 80 cm | 0.4 | 33–34 |
| FIN pallet | 120 × 100 cm | 0.5 | 26 |
| Half pallet | 80 × 60 cm | 0.2 | 66–68 |
| Industrial pallet | 120 × 120 cm | 0.6 | 22 |
What is LDM (loading metre)?
A loading metre is one metre of trailer length across the full width of the trailer, usually 2.4 metres. Carriers use LDM to price part loads that take up floor space rather than weight.
How do I calculate LDM for pallets?
Multiply the pallet length by its width in metres, divide by the trailer width of 2.4 metres, and multiply by the number of pallets. Divide by the number of pallets you can stack on top of each other. A EUR pallet of 1.2 × 0.8 m is 0.4 LDM.
How many LDM is a full truck?
A standard 13.6 metre trailer is 13.6 LDM. It takes 33 or 34 EUR pallets in a single layer.
Does nocargo calculate LDM automatically?
Yes. When you add goods to an order in nocargo, the LDM and weight totals are calculated as you type, and price lists with LDM brackets are applied at once.
